DEFIANCE Guitarist Joins SEVERED FIFTH

June 21, 2010

With resurrected Oakland, California metallers DEFIANCE on a break, guitarist Jim Adams has joined SEVERED FIFTH, a "bold project founded by Jono Bacon designed to explore how far a musician can take his or her music by releasing it as freely available to everyone."

Commented Adams: "I'm looking forward to working closely with Jono to put together an incredible live experience and taking it to the people!

"Big shout-out to Chris Kontos [former MACHINE HEAD/TESTAMENT drummer] for introducing Jono and I, I think we are going to make a great thrash metal team!"

Added Bacon: "Not only did [Jim and I] knit well musically [when we first met], but we knitted really well as friends, and I think Jim is going to bring so much to SEVERED FIFTH, both musically and personality-wise. Jim is also hugely motivated by the free-culture nature of SEVERED FIFTH and giving our fans free access to our music."

According to SEVERED FIFTH's official bio, Jono writes all of the band's songs, performs all the instruments, and records everything in his home studio in the Bay Area, California. He then releases the full album online for all SEVERED FIFTH fans to have full access to.

Musically SEVERED FIFTH is described as "a rich blend of genres, combining rhythmic heavy metal, elements of thrash and death metal, and strong melodic and timbrel undertones. The guitars are defined and heavy, the drums are percussive and the vocals blend together different emotive tones to complete the style."
